Pantone’s Colour of the Year
and The Brendan Wong Collection
Pantone recently announced PANTONE 18-3838, Ultra Violet as their Colour of the Year for 2018. A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking.
As Pantone also explain, Ultra Violet can transform a room into one of extraordinary self-expression. As a colour that can lead us in many directions, Ultra Violet makes a statement in any space, whether it’s one of tradition and elegance or unexpected boldness. In hospitality, purples like Ultra Violet are taking centre stage in interior spaces as large and small hotels harness colour and design to entice travellers and stay relevant.
“The Pantone Colour of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” added Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute. “The Colour of the Year is one moment in time that provides strategic direction for the world of trend and design.”
The striking essence of Pantone’s ‘Ultra Violet’ is embodied closely in the Amethyst colour option available across our collaborative lighting collection with award-winning interior and product designer, Brendan Wong. This designer collection harnesses Brendan’s unique contemporary approach with our extensive network of skilled craftsman, resulting in a dynamic and vibrant collection, utilising a diverse range of materials and drawing upon dramatic, jewel-like tones.
As Brendan explains “The collection draws influence from jewellery, featuring faceted and fluid forms with details reminiscent of ring settings and fine jewellery boxes. Exploration of forms in ceramic, glorious handblown glass and custom laid timber creates a diversity of materials, accented by the warmth of brassy golds”.
