Following an comprehensive multi-million pound renovation, the Principal Edinburgh, (formerly The George Hotel), opened to guests November 2016. The hotel has been sensitively and beautifully remodelled by Goddard Littlefair interior architects. In total, the hotel features 240 bedrooms, eight meeting and event spaces, a restaurant, bar and coffee shop.
Located in Edinburgh’s George Street, the hotel is situated in five listed former residences dating back to 1775, and features a number of references to this rich history. The Craigleith stone surroundings are also referenced in the guest rooms’ natural, earthy colour palettes. Classic novels and typewriters also echo the city’s literary heritage.
Andreas Maszczyk, General Manager of The Principal Edinburgh, says: “This will be another chapter for a remarkable building in a city steeped in history. We hope that the hotel and its services will become a lively meeting-point in one of the world’s most handsome neighbourhoods.”
The hotel features a range of bespoke lighting designs throughout including striking table lamps presented in a burnished antique finish. The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen also features dramatic glass crystal ceiling pendants. amongst other designs.
