How to balance luxurious textures with muted tones

Location: Berkshire, UK

Design: Wells & Maguire

Working closely with their client – a young family based overseas, Wells & Maguire set out to transform this waterfront apartment nestled in the North Wessex Downs into a holiday bolthole. Using a careful balance of muted tones, luxurious textured linens and subtle pattern, they have created a space that covers every aspect of the brief: a functional, practical and comfortable space that delivers a wow factor.

With views overlooking tranquil waters, the open plan living and dining area pairs luxe textures with a rich green accent colour. A neutral boucle sofa with scatter cushions sits aside a bamboo side table holding our Cedar table lamp. The tapered base and soft ridges of this lamp mirror the lines of the table, transforming this corner into a focal point of the room.

The luxe textures of the living room continue through to the principal bedroom, combined with muted tones to create a calming setting in which to unwind. Two Camelia table lamps with tactile lampshades from our Mineral Collection frame the bedside whilst our Elder table lamp sits atop the dressing table. In contrast to the muted tones of the master bedroom, the secondary bedroom is awash earthy terracotta accessories. Twin beds sandwich our Fero table lamp; the refined curves and soft edges of the base add a sense of playfulness, making this the perfect bedside lamp for a child’s bedroom.
