Lighting trends for 2022 and beyond

Lighting: an interior designer’s biggest secret. But with so many varying styles, shapes, and functions, how do you know where to begin? Curated by the most influential interior design magazines, Livingetc and Homes & Gardens, we explore their top 5 lighting trends for 2022.

Metal meets Marble

Marble with metal is not a new combination, we have used it in kitchens for years, however the unusual pairing within lighting is catching the eye of top interior designers:

Architectural Chandeliers

Chandeliers have come a long way over the years. Yes, there are still the ‘traditional’ designs - hanging crystal drops that form elaborate centerpieces, or the ornate brass designs decorated with candle lights, however there is also a new take: more minimalist, more contemporary, more architectural.

"Modern chandeliers are more about space and shape than they are pretty refracted light," says Livingetc editor Pip Rich.

Mindfulness. A word we hadn’t heard much of until a few years ago, yet with more and more now practicing this, creating a space where you can relax and unwind is more important than ever. Ambience is key to this, and the most important factor to consider when creating that desired ambience? Lighting.

Incorporating a mix of lighting allows you to play with height and depth. Our Rhea pendants make for very cozy bedside lights. The interchangeable brightness, controlled by dimmers can transition the room from dawn to dusk, whilst floor and table lamps can work to light specific features.

Lighting can do a lot more than cast light. It can cast beauty. To us, a piece of lighting at its most successful has the same presence as a sculpture. This isn’t something that we see as a trend that comes in and out of fashion. Instead, it’s a guiding principle for every piece we design.
 

Art Deco Shapes

Art Deco is not a new term in the world of interiors. In fact, for the past 10 years it has frequently popped up as a key trend. Characterised by symmetrical patterns, geometric details and lavish materials, this classic style dates back to the 1920’s, however nowadays it takes on a more subtle approach.

If you’re looking to incorporate some of these features into your scheme, our antique brass Yves wall light combines sculptural lines with soft rounded curves. The distinctive shape of this lamp is a modern take on the Art Deco style.
