Craftsmanship and collaboration lie at the heart of our Noor range, blending together traditional blacksmithing techniques with modern design to create striking pieces that add character to any interior.
Inspired by conversations with our local blacksmith, Noor came to life through careful experimentation and refinement, capturing the perfect balance of old and new.
In the forge, iron is heated until it reaches a high temperature, making it malleable. This step is crucial as it allows the iron to be shaped without cracking or breaking. The blacksmith then uses a hammering tool, involving repeated strikes at varying angles, resulting in Noor’s distinctive, irregular silhouettes. This hands-on approach ensures that each leg is uniquely crafted - no two Noor lamps are exactly alike, reflecting the beauty of handmade design.
After shaping, the iron legs go through a special finishing process. They are treated with a black paste and then heated in a furnace to bond the paste to the iron, ensuring the lamps retain their beauty for years to come. A final wax coating is then applied to achieve a rich, matte black finish.
Designed to be more than just a light source, the Noor lamps feature modern forms and unusual silhouettes that make them stand out as decorative pieces. Inspired by traditional techniques and enhanced with unique design details, the range is perfect for creating soulful spaces that blend old and new, delivering a timeless and sophisticated look.
The finished Noor forms then arrive in our Kent factory, where we pair them with handmade lampshades. Tall drum lampshades are chosen to further emphasise their distinct silhouette, enhancing the overall aesthetic and creating a harmonious blend of form and function that elevates any space.
The Noor range includes a table lamp, available in small and large sizes, as well as a floor lamp.
