In 2019, the iconic Britannia hotel reopened its doors. The luxury five star hotel underwent an extensive three-year renovation following years of neglect, and the result is sure to impress. Leading interior architects Metropolis, alongside renowned lighting designers Stokkan Lys, set out to create ‘the new Britannia – a hotel that will last for years to come’.
The hotels history is of great importance. Original details and features of the historic building were refurbished having disappeared over the years. The design is full of continental references and local inspiration, designed to last longer than a trend. Subtle details and layered materials teach us a lesson in modern classic styling. Marbled surfaces, stucco ceilings and wood panels create layers of warmth and a cosy mood for travellers from across the globe to consume and enjoy.
This inviting atmosphere spills into the hotels 257 rooms. Our Amelia and Antero table lamps light the bedsides of all the suites with a home away from home feel. Their ambient warmth sets the tone of the space, aiding the transition from a long and busy day into a cosy relaxing evening.
Our Andro desk lamp also features throughout the hotel, upon each rooms dressing table. Whether used to get ready for an event or to work through some late night emails, the multi-functional space is a fine example of the ingenious design from Metropolis. A space that adapts to please its wide diversity of visitors, whilst maintaining it’s strong modern classic aesthetic, in a building steeped with history.
