The Principal Manchester, (formerly The Palace Hotel), opened to guests November 2016 following an extensive £25 million renovation. The hotel has been sensitively transformed by the Principal design team and 3D Reid Architects, with interiors by Michaelis Boyd.
The listed building dates back to 1891, originally designed by Alfred Waterhouse, the architect behind London’s Natural History Museum. The distinctive clock tower was later added during an extension in 1912. The hotel’s history is still seen in many of its interiors from listed period detailing in the guest rooms to the original marble and bronze Directors’ staircase.
Michael Purtill, General Manager, comments: “We are delighted to begin the new chapter for The Principal Manchester and to see so much of the hotel’s former beauty and history restored. The renovation has given the hotel a new lease of life, creating a destination for locals and visitors to the city alike.”
We were delighted to provide a range of bespoke wall, table, floor and ceiling pendants, which feature throughout the hotel’s guest rooms and suites.
